How fast is your Internet connection?
Tara and I recently got rid of cable television and decided to get all of our video content through the Internet. So far, so good. We can get just about everything we like, aside from live programming. During the transition I also decided to upgrade our Internet service to Road Runner Turbo, which claims speeds up to 15Mbps. I will say that it is fast, but it sure hasn’t delivered 15Mbps on any download I have done. I decided to use speedtest.net (which has a very cool interface) to do an independent test for me. No, I have no relationship with the Speed Test guys : )
I did a series of tests and all the results came in about 5.7-6.5Mbps. I pay $60 a month for a connection with real world performance of about 6Mbps or $10 per 1Mbps. This is the best residential connectivity available in my area.
What do you pay per month? What is your performance? What part of the country do you live in? I would love to hear other peoples results.
